NEW DELHI, Apr 20: Barley prices declined by Rs 11.50 to Rs 1,417 per quintal in futures trade today on narrowing of bets at existing levels in the weak physical markets.
Marketmen said, liquidation of positions by speculators driven by falling prices at spot markets due to rising stocks amid slackness in demand from beer makers at higher levels, denoted the fall in barley futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley delivery for May slackened by Rs 11.50, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 1,417 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,340 lots.
Meanwhile, the delivery in June shed Rs 3.50, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 1,445 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,730 lots. (PTI)
