Apropos news-item appearing on front page of this news-paper on December 10, 2012 under caption “CM orders enquiry into abandoned Ganpat bridge over River Chenab”, the name of Nazir Ahmad Shah, the then Chief Engineer R&B (PWD) Kashmir to whom State Accountability Commission has issued notice was inadvertently attributed to Nazir Ahmad, the State Information Commissioner. Nazir Ahmad, the Information Commission was posted as Superintending Engineer, Mughal Road when the contract of Ganpat Bridge was signed by the members of the contract committee including the then Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir Nazir Ahmad Shah. The Information Commissioner Nazir Ahmad was neither member of the Committee nor associated with Ganpat Bridge at any stage. Similarly, D L Sharma, Chief Engineer PMGSY (JKPRDA) has clarified that he was not associated with the allotment of contract under reference as during that period he was posted as District Superintending Engineer PW(R&B) Department Doda and was not working as GM JKPCC.
