RAJOURI, Apr 18: The police seized four vehicles loaded with bovine animals on Rajouri-Thannamandi Road last night.
Official sources said that the milch animals were being smuggled to Kashmir via Mughal Road. On a specific information, police party from Rajouri led by DySP Headquarters Jaswant Singh laid a naka on Thannamandi Road last night and intercepted four Tata Mobile vehicles.
While the smugglers and drivers of the vehicles managed to escape from the spot taking cover of darkness, the vehicles along with 23 bovine animals were seized, a police officer said.
The vehicles were brought back to Rajouri Police Station and a case was registered in this connection. Further investigation was in progress.
