JAMMU, Feb 23: People living in hilly areas of Kalakote constituency yearn for basic amenities even after seven decades. Many villages in far flung areas of constituency have no road connectivity, no electricity and no potable water.
This was stated by State president, Kranti Dal, Pritam Sharma, in a press conference held here today. Pritam Sharma was flanked by the Pt Ravi Sharma, president, Kalakote unit and Veer Kumar Sharma vice president, Thakur Karnail Chand, Vijay Kumar, Rajan Gupta, Akhil Gandotra, Sumit Sharma, Ritik Sharma, Rudraksh Sharma, etc.
Talking to reporters, Pritam Sharma said, “many areas in far flung areas have been ignored due to various reasons. Successive regimes have failed to reach out the people. The politicians appear in these areas during the election time and disappear soon after the polls end.”
He said, “during election campaigns politicians promise moon and stars to the people but after winning the polls they shift their base to Jammu or Srinagar and reap the fruits of power.”
“There are many villages having a population of thousands of souls which lack road connectivity. These villages have not been connected despite the Centrally sponsored scheme Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yogna (PMGSY) being in place since 2000,” he said.
He also said that Community Health Centre (PHC) Kalakote is running without any specialist doctor and shortage of paramedical staff and Higher Secondary Schools Moghala and Sial Sui are running with the shortage of teaching staff.
He added that at village Balli with the population of 1100, residents are facing acute shortage of drinking water facility despite Government’s assurance.
Pritam said the residents of the areas alleged discrimination by the ruling former and present MLA Kalakote, as he failed to provide basic amenities to the deserving areas.
He said, “It’s high time for the Government to pay attention towards these areas so that the sufferings of the residents are mitigated.”
