SRINAGAR, Feb 20: Police arrested three drug peddlers in two instances and recovered contraband from their possession.
A Police spokesman said that two drug peddlers were arrested by a naka party headed by SHO Ram Munshibagh near Hotel International. The drug peddlers tried to escape from the spot but were overpowered by the naka party.
The accused were identified as Ghulam Hassan Kabli and Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, both residents of Sonwar and five kilograms of cannabis powder was recovered from their possession.
In another instance, Police during a naka at Konikhan Dalgate apprehended a suspicious person later identified as Shabir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Tangmarg at present Naie Sadak Konikhan Dalgate and recovered 125 grams of charas from his possession.
He said the accused is a habitual drug peddler and sells drugs to youngsters in Srinagar city.
