Downtown residents raise traffic jam issue with ASP

Srinagar, Feb 19: A delegation of Downtown Coordination Committee (DCC) met with the ASP Traffic Srinagar and raised the issue of frequent traffic jams in the old city.
A spokesman of DCC said the delegation led by Imtiyaz Rashid Chashti along with Syed Mujahid, Tariq A Dhar, Omer Firodus and Shafi  Naqeeb had a meeting with ASP Muzaffar Ahmed Shah in which the concern of traffic jam in the old city especially at Safakadal, Rajorikadal, Gojiwara and Hawal was raised.
“Muzaffar assured the delegation that necessary steps will be taken to streamline the traffic in the old city and he also sought support of the people in observing traffic norms,” he said
He said downtown though being the actual Srinagar city has been the victim of the neglect in various spheres of life which otherwise are indicative of a civilized society.
He further added that DCC also requested other departments like PDD, SMC, R & B and Transport Department to clear the hurdles which cause traffic jams.
