SRINAGAR, Feb 18: Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered about one kilogram of charas from their possession in Sopore town of Baramulla district today.
A Police spokesman said that after acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi Sopore headed by In-Charge, Dr. Yasar Mehmood laid a naka at Fruit Mandi Crossing and intercepted a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK03C/ 6054.
“On checking the vehicle, about one kilogram of charas was recovered from the possession of two persons identified as Ghulam Qadir Malik, a resident of Tahab Pulwama and Gowhar Ahmad Mir, a resident of Khellan Pulwama,” he said.
“Both the persons were arrested and the vehicle has been seized. A case FIR number 33/2018 under Section 8/22 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation of the case is going on,” he added.
