JAMMU, Feb 16: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) foiled kidnapping and loot attempt in Channi Himmat area.
According to Commanding Officer (CO) 76 Battalion CRPF Neeraj Kumar Pandey, few persons traveling in the Swift Dzire car forcefully picked up a 22-year-old boy from outside the Officers Mess of the Battalion at Channi Himmat and escaped towards Narwal side.
“The alert sentry of the Officers Mess informed the matter to me and immediately a Quick Rescue Team (QRT) started chasing the vehicle”, Pandey informed.
The QRT of 76 Battalion CRPF chased the vehicle, but as the back lights of the car were off, the QRT members could not note down the registration number of the car, he said, adding that the persons traveling in the car after sensing trouble, the kidnappers threw the youth out from the vehicle between Surya Chowk and Railway Crossing near Channi Himmat.
The kidnapped youth, who is a carpenter by profession, was rescued by the CRPF cops. The youth disclosed that two Sikh youth were traveling in the car, who kidnapped and tried to loot him.
The rescued youth has been identified as Becham, son of Durga Deen, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
As youth received some injuries, first aid was given to him and later handed over the flying squad vehicle of Police Station Channi Himmat.
