RAJOURI, Feb 15: Kandi police arrested three persons and recovered poppy straw from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Kandi Police Station laid a naka at Jaglanoo and intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number JK11R-9824.
During checking, police recovered 2 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of three persons travelling in the car and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool, son of Abdul Latif of village Draj, Liyaqat Ali, son of Munshi Khan of village Kandi Mohra Majoor and Rashpal Singh, son of Munshi Singh of village Hubbi.
The arrested accused namely Mohammad Maqbool was a notorious drug peddler and used to sell the poppy straw among the youth residing in the Rather Mandi, Kandi Bukari, Koteranka and Budhal areas of the district Rajouri to make them drug addicts.
With his arrest, Kandi police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 19/18 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kandi and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Kandi Inspector Manzoor Kohli made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Operations Sukhdev Singh and SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas.
