Minor killed; father, brother injured in fire incident

JAMMU, Feb 2: An eight-year-old boy was killed while his father and 10-year-old brother sustained injuries when a fire broke out in their rented accommodation at Press Morh in Bagh-e-Bahu area.
“The mishap occurred late last night when the victims were sleeping in their rented room”, a police official said. He said that the fire broke out probably due to the candle lit by the elder boy. He said the fire spread very fast and engulfed the whole room within minutes.
“While Raj Kumar (30) son of Tirth Ram, resident of Lucknow (at present Press Morh, Bagh-e-Bahu) and his elder son Suraj Kumar (10) managed to evict themselves from the burning room, Veeru Kumar (08), the younger son of Raj Kumar, got trapped in the room and till the flames could be doused, he was burnt completely and later died in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
Raj Kumar and Suraj Kumar also got about 30% and 25 % injuries, respectively in the incident and were being provided treatment at GMCH Jammu. The Bagh-e-Bahu police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations while body of the deceased was also handed over to his legal heirs for last rites after postmortem.
