Pak opens new front on LoC

JAMMU, Feb 1: Pakistan army today opened new front in Keri sector of Rajouri district on the Line of Control (LoC) targeting villages, which were untouched from shelling so far, while continuing shelling in Nowshera sector. The Indian side retaliated firing and shelling effectively at all the places.
Sources said Pakistani troops opened firing and shelling at Peer Badesar, Rattan and Basali villages in Keri sector of Rajouri district at 8.40 am.
“The shelling was very intense and number of mortar shells fell in the civilian areas. However, there were no casualties,’’ they said, adding that the Indian side retaliated very effectively, leading to heavy exchanges that continued till 12.45 pm but again resumed at 5.10 pm and continued intermittently till tonight.
In Nowshera sector, Pakistan targeted Pukharni, Surla, Kanara, Lam, Janghar and Makri villages in the morning. The shelling was heavy in the morning but continued intermittently till this evening.
There were reports that two BSF jawans have sustained minor injuries in Pakistan shelling today.
The Indian side retaliated Pakistani shelling at all the places.
