Telephone operator shot at by gunmen

JAMMU, Feb 1: A man was injured after he was shot at by unidentified gunmen in this winter capital of the State.
“A man riding on a scooty was followed this evening by two unidentified bike-borne gunmen, who on reaching near Bikram Chowk, fired at him,” police sources here said.
They said the gunmen fled away from the spot while the injured identified as Tej Pal Singh (58) son of Sohan Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar (Jammu), who received a bullet shot in his right thigh, was immediately rushed to the Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar for treatment.
“The injured man was deployed at SMGS Hospital as a telephone operator,” DSP Gandhi Nagar, Rafiq Manhas said, adding that an old rivalry seems to be the cause of crime and the matter was being investigated.
