JAMMU, Jan 31: One person was killed, while two others were injured, when the load carrier they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into river Chenab at Kounsi Nallah near Maitra, here this evening.
As per police sources, a load carrier plunged into river Chenab while unloading waste material, resulting into on the spot death of one person and injuries to two others.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons. The injured persons were shifted to District Hospital Ramban, where they were responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
The body of the deceased identified as Sonaullah, son of Abdul Qayoom, a resident of Balhote Maitra District Ramban was also retrieved from the river and shifted to District Hospital, where after completing legal formalities, the body has been handed over to family members for last rites.
The injured have been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Bansi Lal and Shafi, both residents of Balhote Maitra, district Ramban.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
