JAMMU, Jan 30: All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers’ Association today took out an ‘Ekta Rally’ at Nagrota to highlight the concerns of daily wagers regarding SRO 520 and other issues.
The rally was led by Tanveer Hussain (president, All J&K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers’ Association), and Vijay Samyal (president, Rural Division, Jammu). The daily wagers were demanding amendment in SRO 520 to include other benefits like DA, MA, HRA at par with other regular employees.
Addressing the daily wagers, Tanveer said it is after their long struggle that Government finally agreed and issued a formal SRO for the regularization of daily wagers and other employees. He said that there are still many lacunas in the SRO issued, as many ITI trained, land donors, seasonal workers and CP Workers are deprived of the benefits of this SRO because of its criteria for regularization.
He further said that Government had not provided any other benefits like DA, Medical Allowance, HRA, and time bound promotions for the daily wagers. He said that Government had fixed a cap of 1 kanal for land donors but what about those land donors who have donated 15 marla, 16 marla or free of cost to the Government. He took strong exception of making ITI recognized diploma compulsory to be considered as skilled workers.
Tanveer said that Government should immediately open the online portal for the left out daily wagers who because of some genuine issues were unable to make their records online. He demanded that Government should provide benefits of SRO to those daily wagers and other temporary employees who lost their lives during their service period.
Deepak Gupta said that according to this SRO they will be paid a fixed consolidated salary but what about the pay commission implementation on the employees engaged under this said SRO. He said that Government should clear its stand whether the employees whose service period is less than 10 years, will be paid every month or they will have to starve for their salaries like in past.
