JAMMU, Dec 24: A student convention was organised by the NSUI at Dak Bungalow, Poonch where a large number of students participated.
Shahnawaz Choudhary, PCC general secretary was the chief guest. Iftakhar Ahmed Election Commissioner NSUI & IYC, Uday Chib National general secretary NSUI, Vishal Choudhary national secretary NSUI and Shadab Khan Co- Incharge J&K NSUI , Ajaz Chowdhary secretary PYC, Rakeeq Khan NSUI vice president and Ajay Kumar National delegate NSUI were the guests of honour.
While interacting with the chief guest students raised their issues and demands.
The main issues which were raised during the interaction by the students, included the incomplete infrastructure at Poonch campus of Jammu University, anti- students recruitment policy of Government SRO 202, no library facility for students in Poonch and very limited availability of UG and PG courses.
Students demanded 24- hour library facility in Poonch and crash courses for PSC, universities entrances and SSB. They also raised the issue of lack of sports infrastructure in the district. PG courses should be introduced in the University campus at Poonch like other campuses of Jammu university.
During interaction with the students Shahnawaz Chowdhary assured the students of Poonch district that party will raise their issues with the concerned authorities and criticised the present Government for ignoring the border district. He mentioned that the students of Poonch district has a lot of potential both in Academic and sports as we have seen in the recent KAS results, they need proper guidance and facilities to shape their careers. He also said that there is an urgent need of library in Poonch district for the students, Jammu univerity need to start more UG and PG cources in Poonch campus to cater the needs of students.
Others who were present there on the occassion included Aqib Mir, Haroon Rafiq, Waseem Choudhary, Waseem Banday and Waseem Sheikh.
