UDHAMPUR, Dec 24: Five CRPF jawans were injured when a Gypsy, they were travelling in, rammed into a roadside hillock at Per Bab near Jakhani, here this morning.
All the injured jawans are from 181 CRPF Battalion. The Gypsy, bearing registration number JK02AW-0635, was on way from Jammu to Kashmir when it met with the accident Per Bab around 7.15 a.m. Police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to District Hospital Udhampur.
The injured were identified as Assistant Commander Danesh Chandel (37), son of Gopi Lal of Rajasthan, Constable Charan Jeet Hack (27), son of Tabir Ram Hack of Assam, Constable Ashok Kumar (37), son of Sham Sarup of Rajasthan, Head Constable Kuldeep Raj (46), son of J R Thappa of Jammu and Head Constable (Driver) Som Lal (39), son of Babu Ram of Punjab.
Meanwhile, a Selection Grade Police Constable died because of massive heart attack while on duty at DPL, Udhampur.
The deceased, identified as Mohammad Tariq (42), son of Gulam Kadir of Ward Number 17, Salian Talab, Udhampur was posted in DPL Udhampur where he suddenly fell unconsciously late last evening. He was rushed to the District Hospital Udhampur where he died during treatment.
