UDHAMPUR, Dec 20: To channelize the energy of youth including police Jawans towards constructive and productive purposes rather than inclination towards anti-social activities like the menace of drug addiction, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu inaugurated Martyr SI Imran Tak Gymnasium at District Police Lines (DPL), here today.
He was accompanied by Virender Sharma, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Udhampur, Faisal Qureshi, Additional SP, Kameshwar Puri, DySP Hqrs, Shakeel Rehman, DySP DAR and other officers and jawans.
While speaking on the occasion, IGP said that the drugs & substance abuse affects the capabilities and energies of the youth and it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to work together and eradicate the growing menace. The best way to keep the youth away from the menace of drug addiction is to channelize their energies towards sports activities.
He said the initiative of Udhampur Police towards this social responsibility is worthwhile and will go a long way in engaging the local youth including police personnel towards sports activities and thereby keeping them physically and mentally fit to meet future challenges.
IGP also inspected the drug de-addiction centre and other construction/up-gradation works going on in DPL Udhampur.
