KATHUA, Dec 18: Hatli police has rescued 10 bovine animals which were being illegally smuggled from Punjab via Ravi river at Lower Jagatpura today.
According to reports a police team of police post Hatli led by incharge of PP under the supervision of Dy SP, S S Samyal during a naka signaled the vehicle bearing registration number PB 11B N 5297 to stop. On seeing the police, the driver of the vehicle jumped from it and fled leaving the dumper and animals in the way.
The police team on checking the vehicle found that it was laden with 10 bovine animals which were being transported from Punjab to J&K.
The police seized the dumper and bovine animals also. It registered a case against the dumper driver under relevant sections of the law and also started a manhunt for him. The police has also started investigation in the case.
It may be recalled that in last five days six vehicles laden with bovine animals were seized by Kathua police which has intensified the drive against the bovine smuggling.
