Two days National Dental Conference commences

JAMMU, Dec 16: Two days National Dental Conference commenced and the Dental Directory of IDA Jammu was also launched here today by Prof RD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu.
Prof Sharma was chief guest on the occasion. The theme of the conference is “Navigating the Future”.
This conference is being organized by Indian Dental Association (IDA), Jammu Branch in collaboration with Health Centre, University of Jammu.
Dr RP Abrol, Former Deputy Director Dentistry was conferred lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the society.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof RD Sharma said that the genuine demands of dentists which are related to University and academics will be taken care of. He also said that Dental Colleges should also hold their convocation on the pattern of medical colleges.
On the first day of the conference, the scientific deliberations were done on TMJ problems by Dr Rohit Punga and on Implantology by Dr Cyrus Karkaria.
Dr.Rohit Punga also conducted a pre-conference course on TMJ which was assisted by Dr Paaras Kotwal and a hands-on practical course was conducted by Dr Abhishek Mahajan.
Dr Romesh Singh, Principal IGGDC, Jammu, Dr Riyaz Farooq, Principal GDC, Srinagar and Dr Rakesh Gupta, member DCI spoke on the occasion and demanded MDS courses in IGGDC Jammu, separate dental directorate for J&K on the analogy of Himachal Pradesh and interest free loan for newly passed out and unemployed dental surgeons.
Dr Rajiv Mengi, Conference Chairman, Dr Gautam Sharma, Co-Conference Chairman, Dr Bhupinder Singh, member State Dental Council, Dr Rudra Kaul, Organising Secretary, Dr Nipun Gupta Scientific Chairman, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed and Dr Qaiser Jah also shared the dais with the chief guest.
