JAMMU, Dec 11: Hundreds of PHE workers under the banner of PHE Workers’ Welfare Association today staged a protest in the office complex of Chief Engineer, PHE Department, in support of their long pending demands.
Reiterating their demands like regularization of all sort of PHE daily rated workers who have completed seven years of service, release of pending wages of workers, conducting of DPC meeting in time at all levels to provide promotion avenues to all sort of permanent employees, and providing genuine clerical staff to all the divisions equally, the protesting workers raised slogans against the higher ups of the department for their failure to redress their genuine demands.
While addressing the employees, Bakshi Singh, president of the Association, said that the State Government has failed in publicizing the regularization policy for daily rated workers in due course of time. He urged upon the Government to fulfill all the demands of the Association at the earliest to avoid any confrontation.
Subhash Verma, provincial general secretary of the Association, while speaking on the occasion, said that the present Government and her predecessors have done nothing for the daily rated workers who have given golden period of their lives to the department and still have been struggling for their livelihood.
He further expressed that the present Government too could not want to solve the regularization issue of the workers honestly and still has been playing with the sentiments of thousands innocent workers. He warned the State Government if regularization issue of daily rated workers is not solved by February 1, 2018, the association will observe ‘Kaam Choro Hartal’ from February 28.
