Three structures gutted in Bagh-e-Mehtab

SRINAGAR, Dec 9: A major fire today gutted three large structures used for commercial purposes in Bagh-e-Mehtab area of summer capital.
The fire broke out at around 11:00 am in the morning from upper stories of a structure and then engulfed two other nearby structures. Within no time, all the three structures were up in flames.
After being informed, the fire tenders from various fire stations of the city rushed to the spot and started dousing the blaze. It took firemen nearly two hours to bring the fire under control. However, the fire caused losses worth lakhs of rupees. No one was injured in the blaze and the cause of the blaze is being ascertained by police.
With the onset of winter, the fire incidents involving residential houses and commercial units have increased across the Kashmir valley. The incidents of blaze take place almost everyday and devastate properties. Early this week, massive blaze gutted nearly a dozen houses in Hawal area of the old city and rendered many families shelter-less.
