CBSE sets up 2 NEET centres in Valley

JAMMU, Dec 2: Responding to the plea of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, the CBSE has decided to set up two examination centres for the students of Kashmir valley appearing in the upcoming NEET (PG)-2018 examination.
Minister of State in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh had also intervened on the issue after getting a communique from Tasaduq Mufti, Incharge Grievance Cell, J&K Government.
In a communication, the Union Health Ministry has informed the Board of Professional Examination authorities of the State to re direct the candidates belonging to Kashmir valley to two Centres set up at Srinagar and Baramulla in this connection.
The decision follows a communication Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti had sent to Union Health & Family Welfare Minister, J P Nadda on November 10 drawing his attention towards the non availability of examination centres for candidates belonging to Kashmir valley for the examination being conducted by National Board of Examination on January 07, 2018.
“The non-availability of an examination centre at Srinagar would   put such a large number of medical graduates to a lot of inconvenience”, the Chief Minister had written to the Union Health Minister.
Requests from various groups of students had come to the Chief Minister for setting up an examination centre at Srinagar for the coming NEET (PG)-2018 examination in view of the large number of candidates from Kashmir valley taking such an examination.
Sources said besides the Chief Minister, her brother Tasaduq Mufti, Incharge Grievance Cell of J&K Government had taken up the issue with Union Minister Dr Jitendra singh and urged him to get two NEET centres sanctioned for the Valley.
Dr Jitendra singh approached the CBSE, the Nodal Agency for conducting NEET, and the Union Health Ministry, which today approved two NEET centres for Kashmir including Srinagar and Baramulla. Jammu was already having the NEET centres.
