260 teachers removed as BLOs; 113 SWD cases settled

RAJOURI, Sept 29: District Administration, Rajouri has removed 97 teachers from duty and assignment of Booth Level Officer (BLOs), ahead of special summary revision. With this 260 teachers stand removed from the duty of BLO.
Official sources said that the move is aimed at improving education system in schools. Process has been issued for replacement of 100 more BLOs. Deputy District Election Officer, Shrikant issued the order for removal of 86 teachers from BLO duty assigned in Assembly constituencies Darhal, Rajouri, Nowshera and Kalakote.
Earlier this month, 163 teachers were removed from BLO duty. Officials from various other departments have been appointed as BLOs as per the provisions laid down by the Election Commission of India. So far, more than 50% BLOs of existing 517 polling stations have been changed to spare teachers from election assignment and strengthen educational system in the district.
District Election Officer, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while chairing a meeting of BLOs informed that 48 new polling stations have been created in addition to 517 existing polling stations and District Administration has initiated a process to remove around 60-70% teachers from BLO duty and assignment to spare their services for education on schools. He also warned the teachers not canvass for retaining BLO assignment.
The newly appointed BLOs are being trained by DyDEO, DIO- NIC and Electoral Registration Officers. They will be provided with BLO kits and latest guidelines of Election Commission of India. They will also be imparted training on newly introduced ERO-NET for a prompt and decentralized electoral enrollment and Registration mechanism. The BLOs of newly created polling stations will also be selected from departments other than education.
Meanwhile, District Administ-ration, Rajouri convened a one-day Lok Adalat for deciding more than 100 cases related to selection of Anganwadi Workers, Helpers and service related matters. A total of 113 cases pending since 8-10 years related to selection of Anganwadi workers and helpers were taken up and decided by the teams of officers.
