DEO Shopian chairs conference of officers

SHOPIAN: District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian Mohammad Aijaz, today chaired a day-long conference of EROs, AEROs and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of Shopian district to lay out modalities for enrollment of left-out electors with special focus on first-time electors and young citizens in the age group of 18-21.

The BLOs were directed to undertake door to door campaign to enroll the left-out eligible voters and organize special camps at their respective polling stations on October 14 and 21, 2017.

The conference discussed in detail various issues including implementation of the schedule, issuance of notice, receipt of claims and objections, submission of weekly progress report, preparation of checklist along with format 01-08 for roll observer, performance report of BLOs, details of funds released to the BLOs on account of EPICs besides liabilities and ban on transfer of the officers/officials engaged with the process till completion of the revision.

The conference was informed that October 3 has been set for the publication of draft electoral rolls for which the period for filling claims and objections shall be November 1, 2017.

It was also informed that the date for reading of relevant part/ section of photo electoral rolls in gram sabhas/local bodies and RWA meetings and verification of claim and objections shall held from October 4 to 18. Whereas the date for disposal of claims and objections and final publication of electoral rolls shall be made on November 30 and January 1, 2018.

The DEO stressed on implementation of ECI guidelines in letter and spirit. He said cent percent enrolment of voters in the district should be made so that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right to voting during elections.
