HC directs for completion of court projects

SRINAGAR, Sept 8: High Court was today apprised about various projects which are in progress in various district courts and it directed their completion within time line.
Division Bench of Chief Justice Baddar Durrez Ahmad and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey was apprised by the counsel representing Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs M I Dar (AAG) about the construction going on in various district court complexes.
With regard to acquiring of land for district court Bandipora, High Court was informed that land is to be acquired from private persons and there is some dispute on rates and efforts for negotiations are on with the parties. High Court directed that in case of failure of negotiations, land be acquired compulsorily under the provision of law.
It was submitted that new district court complex and ADR complex at district Pulwama are already complete and some minor works are required to be finished. With regard to Udhampur District court complex as well as Ram-Nagar Sub-judge court building and Judge’s residence it was submitted that these will be completed in near future and work on lawyer’s chambers will be completed by ending December.
With regard to District Court complex at Doda, it was informed that the same is on final stage and will be made operational by ending November and in so far as district court complex Samba is concerned, the same is near completion and will be made operational by ending December.
On construction of Handwara court complex nothing has been done till date despite Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been sent by High Court but the same is pending with Law Department. Court directed for staring work within week’s time and completing the same within eighteen months.
