KATHUA, Sept 6: The irate villagers of Krdoh in Lakhanpur area today held a protest demonstration in front of DC Office here against the scarcity of drinking water in the area.
The protesters said that they have been facing acute scarcity of water for last fortnight with the concerned authorities paying no attention to solve the problem. They said they took up the issue with every officer of the PHE Department several times but to no avail. Later the protesters formed a human chain and blocked the Kathua -Kali Bari road for over one hour. The protesters shouting slogans against the PHE authorities demanded immediate restoration of water supply to the village which falls in Kandi belt of Kathua.
To pacify the agitating people the ACR Kathua, Jitender Mishra and Tehsildar Kathua Avtar Singh assured them that the problem will be solved soon and they will take up to the issue with concerned PHE authorities.
They also apprised the DC Kathua, Ramesh Kumar of their problems who also issued directives to PHE authorities to take immediate steps in restoring water supply to the area. On this assurance the people lifted the road blockade.
