JAMMU, July 13: Accusing State Government of its total failure to prevent terrorists’ attack on Shri Amarnath Yatris in Kashmir, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today demanded immediate dismissal of Mehbooba Mufti Govt in the State.
Addressing a joint press conference here today senior PCC leaders Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Manjit Singh, Bikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh and Namrata Sharma said that attack on Yatra and killings of seven innocent pilgrims and injuries to about twenty others is clear indication of gravity of the security situation in the Valley.
They expressed grave concern over the alarming security situation in Kashmir which is continuously worsening and said the recent attack on Shri Amarnathji Yatris despite all claims of all preventive security measures against any possible attempts, in the wake of open threats, is an indication of the ground situation and in-capability of the PDP-BJP Government to handle Kashmir situation.
Sham Lal Sharma said that the attack is the result of major security lapse despite clear reports and warnings of possibility of attack on yatris, which reflects the in-ability of Mufti Government to bring the situation under control. Since the situation is deteriorating day by day so this Government has no moral right to continue in office anymore and should step down immediately to contain the situation otherwise things could be more worst. He alleged that PDP-BJP Govt has been soft peddling on terror since it assumed office in the State which brought to situation to this level. He questioned the attempts at damage control immediately after the attack, which amounts to shirking the responsibility.
PCC senior vice president lashed out at the Centre Government for being mute spectator to the worsened situation in the Valley and all along the border and LoC with Pakistan and China. He said the killing of soldiers along borders is the result of immature policy of the Centre towards Kashmir as well as our neighbours.
Raman Bhalla described the PDP-BJP Govt as a total failure on all fronts, especially to handle the security situation, which has gone out of control of the present Govt. As long as this Government remains in power, the situation would not normalize and this Govt must go immediately in the larger interest of State and nation.
PCC chief spokesman Ravinder Sharma while replying to a query said that local support to the militancy has increased because of the unnatural alliance and mishandling of the situation by the State and Centre Govt. He also regretted that two Central Ministers who visited yesterday only to give clean chit to Mufti Government in the aftermath of attack.
