HC restrains PSC from finalizing selection process

JAMMU, June 22: Vacation Judge of J&K High Court Justice Sanjeev Kumar has restrained Public Service Commission from finalizing selection for the post of Lecturer in Forensic Medicine.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by Dr Arif Viqar seeking quashment of minimum qualification of MD Pathology, MD (Path & Bact), PhD, DSc, Specialty Board of Pathology (USA) MRC Path (UK) as prescribed for the post of Lecturer in Forensic Medicine in J&K Medical Education (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules, 1979 for being in derogation of minimum qualification for teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998 of Medical Council of India.
After hearing Advocate Yaseer Ejaz Tak appearing for the petitioner, Justice Sanjeev Kumar directed Public Service Commission to file objections and in the meanwhile directed that till next date before the bench, Public Service Commission may go ahead with the selection process for the post of Lecturer in Forensic Medicine but shall not finalize the same.
“The Commission shall allow the petitioner to take part in the selection process, provided he fulfills requirement of qualification and experience as provided under the MCI Regulations”, High Court further directed.
