UDHAMPUR, June 21: Alleging stalled development in district Udhampur, particularly in Ramnagar constituency and suspension of even the on-going schemes, a large number of National Panthers Party workers led by party chairman Harsh Dev Singh and State president of the party Balwant Singh Mankotia, held a massive demonstration outside the DC office here today.

The party workers who assembled in the morning at Salathia Chowk took out a procession which culminated at the office of DC Udhampur where the protesters raised slogans against the Coalition Govt and local administration for bringing the developmental works to a grinding halt in Ramnagar, Majalta Udhampur and Basantgarh Tehsils.
The party activists blocked the main road and staged a sit-in leading to suspension of vehicular traffic for more than 90 minutes. A memorandum was also submitted to DC Udhampur alleging large scale irregularities in the functioning of various Departments.
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Dev called upon the DC Udhampur to take cognizance of the large scale irregularities and violations of norms in the preparation and renewal of BPL lists. Calling for a review of the said lists, he sought inclusion of the bona-fide and eligible persons under norms and deletion of the fraudulent entries.
He further lambasted the pick and choose adopted by the CAPD officials in identification of beneficiaries under PMUY for provision of gas cylinders and stoves. He sought the revision of the said lists in the new surveys for preparation of common BPL list for CAPD, SWD, and RDD.
Condemning the local administration for its inordinate delay in releasing compensation to the farmers for lands acquired from them under PMGSY, Singh regretted that the highly apathetic officials had delayed the same by more than three years.
He also sought punitive action against the MLA Ramnagar RS Pathania for his criminal trespass into HSS Basantgarh today and hurling filthy abuses and threats upon one Pritam Singh teacher and hackling and assault on the said teacher through Police who was called by the said MLA inside the school premises. He described it an insult to the entire teaching community.
Balwant Singh Mankotia while speaking on the occasion sought implementation of the High Court orders regarding enhancement of pensions to a minimum of Rs 1000 p.m for widows, old aged, handi-capped besides other under privileged. He expressed concern over the gradual failure of MG-NREGA schemes and diversion of funds under the scheme to PMGSY schemes which amounted to an irregularly of a grave nature.
