JAMMU, June 19: An accused detained under preventive custody has escaped from Akhnoor police custody.
According to SDPO Akhnoor Munish Anand, a youth identified as Raj Kumar, son of Dhari Ram, a resident of Daskal was detained under preventive custody at Akhnoor police station.
Today morning, the youth on the pretext of attending nature’s call escaped from the custody, he said, adding that a cop identified as Sadaam Hussain has been suspended and arrested.
A case under Sections 223 and 224 RPC stands registered against the accused and cop at Akhnoor police station and hunt has been launched to arrest the accused.
However, no arrest was made till last reports were compiled.
