Youth murdered, thrown in Tawi

JAMMU, Oct 20: A 25 year old youth, a taxi driver by professions, has been murdered by his two colleagues including son of a transporter under the influence of liquor while returning from Jewel Chowk to Bhour Camp under the jurisdiction of Satwari police station. The police recovered body of the youth from river Tawi at village Nanyal today.
Police sources said Jatinder Singh son of Manjit Singh, a taxi driver and a resident of Chatha Farm along with two other youth had gone to Jewel Chowk on October 16, where they took chicken and later had a tiff on some trivial issue. While returning to Bhour Camp, two youths hit Jatinder Singh in which he received injury.
Both of them took the injured to a doctor but he refused to treat the patient on the ground that it was a Medico Legal Case (MLC) and the patient had to be taken to the Government Medical College (GMC).
As the youth was unconscious, his frightened associates took him to cremation ground where they removed some of his belongings and then threw him into river Tawi. Family of Jatinder Singh had lodged a missing report with Satwari police station.
Sources said one of the accused Dharamveer Singh son of a transporter, Mohinder Singh R/o Chatha Farm has been arrested while another accused Inderjeet Singh son of Dheeraj Singh R/o Bhour Camp was absconding. Police was conducting searches to nab him.
A murder case has been registered at Satwari police station.
Police today recovered body of Jatinder Singh from river Tawi at Nanyal and handed it over to the family members after post-mortem. Sources said post-mortem has confirmed external injuries.
