JAMMU, May 9: After a viral video on social sites in which a lady alleged police atrocities during custody, Police Department has attached Station House Officer (SHO) Kanachack Inspector Rajesh Sharma to District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.
As per police sources, a viral video on social sites in which a lady namely Seema Devi, wife of Suraj Kumar, a resident of Deharan, who was arrested in theft case few days back has alleged police atrocities during her custody in Kanachack Police Station.
In the video, she has alleged that SHO Kanachack along with his three other associates including a lady cop had done some unnatural offences with her during custody.
The lady has also lodged a complaint for registration of FIR under Sections 376, 366, 323 and 34 RPC with City Judge against four persons including SHO Kanachack Police Station Inspector Rajesh Sharma, Reeta, police officer, Mohammad, Head Constable and Nirmala (nurse), a resident of Deharan, tehsil Bhalwal.
On the directions of the Court, the medical examination of the woman was conducted by the board of doctors, the report of which was submitted to the City Court by SHO Women Cell Police Station in a secret envelop.
However, the court has also directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu to proceed ahead in the matter in terms of Section 156 (3) CrPC and constitute a team of honest and efficient officers to investigate the matter.
On the directions of the Court, the Police Department recommended the names of six police officers for constituting a team to investigate the matter. The names of the police officers recommended are Basant Rath as Chairman, Mohan Lal Kaith, SP PCR Armed, Vinod Kumar, SP, Sandeep Choudhary, SP South, Sanjeev Basin, SP and Dalip Kumar, SP Railways.
Meanwhile, SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta has ordered attachment of the SHO Kanachack to DPL Jammu and posted Inspector Naresh Sharma from SOG Jammu as SHO Kanachack.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged by Parvez Pal, son of Baba Massi Pal of Deharan with police station Kanachack on April 30 stating that on March 17, he along with family members went to marriage function. After attending the marriage function his wife put all the golden ornaments in the almirah and when she opened the almirah on April 28 on their marriage anniversary, she found gold jewellery including mangal sutra, necklace and ear rings missing, which might be stolen by some unknown persons. The cost of stolen property was worth Rs 2 lakh.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 63/17 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered at Kanachack Police Station and investigation was entrusted to AS1 Mohammad Azam.
During the course of investigation and on the basis of the evidences collected, suspect namely Seema Devi was called in the Police Station. The lady confessed the theft in presence of witnesses and was formally arrested.
Firstly, the accused disclosed that she handed over the stolen items to Karnail Kumar alias Tota, son of Munshi Ram, a resident of Gole Panjpeer, Talab Tillo, but when Karnail Kumar was questioned, he refused the allegations leveled against him and disclosed that he did not meet her even for the last six months.
Finally, the accused lady disclosed that the stolen jewellery items have been shifted to Pathankot. Police team along with lady constables, respectable persons of the locality and IO rushed to Pathankot and recovered few items including mangal sutra, two earings and one artificial ring from the possession of the mother of the accused, who was identified as Suresh Kumari, wife of Puran Chand of Pathankot, at present Sukha Pakhian.
The medical examination of both the accused ladies was conducted from time to time and when she alleged police atrocities in the custody, re-medical examination of Seema Devi was conducted on the directions of the City Court by Incharge Women Cell and the report of medical examination was submitted to City Judge Jammu in secret envelop.
It is also pertinent to mention here that FIR Number 20/2012 under Sections, 363, 366-A and 376 RPC stands registered against Sudesh Kumari at Police Station Division-II Pathankot. The names of the accused also figured in two more FIR Numbers 47/15 under Section 451 and 323 IPC and 69/14 under Section 21/ 22/ 61/ 85 NDPS.
