Rana convinces EVs to call off strike

SRINAGAR, Oct 17 : The EVs who have  been on hunger strike for the  last 10 days in protest against non-fulfillment of their demands called off their protest after a detailed meeting with the Political Advisor to Chief Minister Devender Singh  Rana, who visited the protesting EVs at the Press Enclave here today on the instructions of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  and convinced them to call off their strike.
Addressing the striking EVs, Rana said that the Omar led Coalition Government has always been employees friendly and has taken some very bold decisions in the interest of the employees despite the financial constraints.
He said the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission in toto as also the release of its arrears which happened on the personal intervention of the Chief Minister is an initiative which needs to be hailed by all the employees and it showcases the Government’s resolve to look after the employees who are the most vital component of the Government.
Assuring the striking EVs that the Government would look into their genuine demands and take an appropriate view in the matter, Rana urged the employees of the State to desist from the path of confrontation and resolve all their issues through a process of dialogue so that the Government can deliver to the expectations of the people who look upto the Government for their welfare and the Government operates through the employees.
Rana personally served juice to the volunteers sitting on the hunger strike.
