SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Minister for CA&PD, Qamar Ali Akhoon today laid foundation of Standard Laboratory Blocks of Legal Metrology at Bemina. These blocks would be constructed by the J&K Housing Board Corporation.
Secretary CA&PD, Mohammad Abbas, Managing Director Housing Board, Deputy Controller Enforcement and Legal Metrology and other officers and official of concerned department were present on the occasion.
Mr. Akhoon urged upon the concerned to take the necessary steps for construction of boundary wall of the laboratory campus on priority.
It was appraised on the occasion, that Legal Metrology department would construct 6 laboratories in the twin cities of Srinagar and Jammu, of which 3 would be setup at Bemina and 3 at Transport Nagar Jammu. For this purpose the land has already been acquired by the Department at both sites. Besides, the Center has released Rs. 1.5 crore for the construction of these laboratories under “Strengthening of weights and measures in States/UT’s” scheme.
The laboratories will be equipped with high-tech measuring instruments for testing the accuracies of Sphygmo-monometers, Clinical thermometers, Fare-meters etc.
