NPP, NSF pays tributes to martyrs of 1966; JJSF continues fast on second day

JAMMU, Oct 17: Glowing tributes were paid to student leaders Brijmohan, Gulshan Handa, Subash Chandra and Gurcharan Singh,who lost their lives in police firing, while fighting for the cause of the Jammu, on their 46th anniversary of martyrdom.
The student leaders, who were killed in police firing in the year 1966, were demanding Jammu University, Professional Colleges and equity for Agricultural Graduates in their service rules.
NPP, Chairman Prof Bhim Singh accompanied by Harshdev Singh, MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA and State president, Yashpaul Kundal, MLA, Anita Thakur, State general secretary, Partap Singh Jamwal, president, NPSU and several others leaders of NPP, Young Panthers, Panthers Trade Union and NPSU paid floral tributes to Brijmohan, Gulshan Handa, Subash Chandra and Gurcharan Singh at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College main gate.
Prof Bhim Singh while speaking said that reorganization of J&K is the only way out to save the people of the three regions from discrimination.
Activists of National Secular Forum (NSF) accompanied by Dr Vikas Sharma, State president, NSF and Dr DL Choudhary, Administrator, General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, paid floral tributes and also observed one minute silence to pay homage to the student-martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, DL Choudhary asked the student community to be always ready for making sacrifices for the nationalistic cause.
Surjit Choudhary, Shafqat Malik, Rishikesh Raina and Ravi Choudhary were also present.
Meanwhile, activists of Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) paid floral tributes to student leaders and also continued their fast at Shaheedi Sthal.
Rajinder Singh, president, JJSF and Rahul Verma continued their fast on second consecutive day, while two other activists of JJSF namely Sumit Sharma and Abhi Gupta, joined them today.
While speaking, Rajinder Singh said that the student leaders were raising voice against the discrimination with the Jammu region and laid down their lives for the sake of the Jammu people.
