JAMMU, Apr 13: Director General NCC, Lt Gen Vinod Vashist, who was on a three day visit to Jammu concluded his visit here today.
During his stay, the DG visited the NCC Directorate J&K, NCC Group HQ Jammu and other NCC units located in Jammu. At the NCC Directorate, Maj Gen Nilendra Kumar, ADG NCC J&K received Gen Vashisht and briefed him on NCC activities in the State.
He also appraised him about the progress made by State Govt on various NCC issues, especially that of raising three new NCC units in the State and informed that State Govt concurrence is likely to be received shortly.
Gen Vashisht also paid visit to NCC Gp Hqrs and its units and was briefed by Brig Rajan Jamwal, Group Commander, Jammu and Commanding Officers on NCC training and other activities.
On April 11, 2017, on arrival, Gen Vashist addressed a gathering of nearly 500 NCC cadets at the Convention Auditorium of the State Govt. The DG gave a detailed and comprehensive lecture on leadership, character, discipline, integrity, comradeship and importance of education.
Emphasizing on the importance of these characterstics in life, he related these to various daily life anecdotes to make young cadets understand these in right spirit. He also highlighted the importance of tenacity and positive attitude in life.
Later, Gen Vashisht interacted with cadets over tea where he was overwhelmed and impressed by the enthusiasm and spirit of cadets.
Gen Vashist also addressed to NCC cadets at Sainik School, Nagrota and Army Public Schools of Jammu, Rathuchak & Kaluchak which was well received. Earlier, from April 9 to 11 , Gen Vashist visited NCC Group HQ and its units in Srinagar and Baramulla.
