NEW DELHI, Apr 3: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) president Kundan Kashmiri today said that the Kashmiri migrants, who have been living in exile since 1990 at various places in the country, mostly in Jammu and Delhi are in a dilemma after BJP decided not to contest election for the two Parliamentary constituencies of the Valley, which dismayed the community and confused the migrant voters.
In a statement issued here today he said that KP voters are in a fix because they don’t find a ray of in any of Kashmiri parties and these parties categorically opposed “one place settlement” of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley and claimed this settlement would lead to demographic change in Kashmir and undermine the special status of Kashmir”.
He said that how could they vote for the parties like the NC, which was responsible for their exodus and which is for a solution to the Kashmir issue outside the Indian Constitution or which has been speaking the language of Pakistan and separatists”. These political parties opposed passage of Temple Bill in the Assembly, ignored the over–aged KP youths and PM package employees.
KPs want to participate in the electoral processes but the problem is that no Kashmir-based political parties consider them aborigines of Kashmir;but always exploited them in elections. . He also stated that how could KPs vote for the NC or the Congress or the PDP, when they only talk about one-community and raise doubts about the political status of the State.
Kundan Kashmiri further said that another issue that irritates the Kashmiri Pandit voters is the difficulty they face in filling of M-Form and depositing it with the Zonal office where a Kashmiri migrant voter stands registered. The lengthy and cumbersome process was not simplified. So he appealed the community not to vote for these parties and instead use button on NOTA.
