The victory of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in four States of the country is spectacular.
The landmark verdict underlines the fact that ‘New India’ does not believe in caste and religious arithmetics, as is espoused by some traditional regional and national parties. The ‘New India’ as envisioned by Prime Minister believes in development and welfare of people. Not only that the people voted for Prime Minister’s promises and corruption free governance. The voters have reposed faith in Prime Minister, and the ball is now in his court. It is Modi’s magic that the voters’ confidence in him has not been shaken despite the hardships faced by them owing to demonetisation. He attracted large crowds wherever he went. They listened to him, and applauded whatever he said.
Now, it is for the Governments in BJP ruled States to live upto the expectations of people. If they fail to deliver, they will have to face the same humiliation as did the other parties today.
