JAMMU, Mar 7: With the arrest of two burglars, Gangyal police today solved two theft cases and recovered gold as well as silver jewellery worth lakhs from the burglars.
Addressing media persons here today, SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta, revealed that two hardcore burglars, who had committed a number of day light thefts in the jurisdiction of police station Gangyal, was arrested few days back and jewellery valuing Rs 7.5 lakh and two laptops worth Rs 70, 000 were recovered from their possession.
The officer said that a burglar namely Vishal Sharma son of Kamal Sharma, resident of Kunjwani, was arrested few days back from Jallo Chak area and a number of gold ornaments including a pair of silver ring, a gold nose pin, a gold locket, a gold necklace, a Mangalsutra, 3 gold rings, 2 pairs of gold topas, 3 gold ear rings, a Manik Tikka, a bracelet, 2 gold bangles and a Naath, were recovered from his possession.
The SSP said that on sustained questioning, Vishal Sharma disclosed the involvement of one more accomplice namely Dinesh Kumar son of Madan Lal, resident of Kunjwani, who was also arrested and put to sustained questioning during which he broke down and admitted his involvement in theft cases.
“Two laptops of HP brand along with accessories and some jewellery including a gold kitti set, a pair of gold Jhumka, a pair of gold Bagge Chain, a locket, a pair of Mangalsutra and a Pandel, was recovered from his possession”, the officer said, adding, more recoveries are likely.
He further informed that with the arrest of these two burglars and recovery two theft cases registered at Police Station Gangyal under FIR No 18/2017 under sections 454/380 RPC and FIR No 136/2016 under Sections 457/380 RPC have been worked out.
The arrests were made by a police team led by Inspector Aejaz Wani, SHO, police station Gangyal, under the supervision of SDPO South, Rafiq Manhas and SP South, Sandeep Choudhary.
