Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Keeping Jammu Clean’ DE Mar 4, 2017.
The author has drawn the attention of the readers towards the insanitary conditions prevailing in the city and other problems encountered by the people here.
If people living there do not care for their own city, then who is going to maintain it is a million dollar question.
The city is growing at a rapid pace and witnessing both horizontal and vertical expansion. It is assuming a metropolitan character with people of different faiths and castes living in mutual brotherhood and communal harmony.
Besides, people from villages flock here in search of livelihood and education for their children.
As such the city is under severe strain to meet the needs of such multitude of people. Since the Government alone can not meet the challenge of keeping the city clean and meeting the needs of people, it is the bounden duty of the city dwellers to come forward to maintain the city.
If the gravity of the situation is not realised well in time, it will have numerous repercussions on the city-dwellers in coming times.
Yours etc…
