JAMMU, Jan 23: Independent MLA from Langate Engineer Rashid today said in the Legislative Assembly that he will move privilege motion against the officers, who allegedly forged the date of birth of a boy detained under Public Safety Act during Kashmir unrest and lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail.
In the morning when the House proceedings started, Rashid raised the issue of detention of one Sahil Ahmed Malik of Srinagar under PSA claiming that he is a minor. While Rashid had earlier also raised the issue, today he displayed school certificated of the boy, which described his age as 14 years.
He asked the Government to reply on it and trooped into Well of the House.
Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan told Rashid that if the boy was minor, the Government will definitely take action in the case under Rules.
CPM MLA MY Tarigami also demanded review of detention cases under PSA.
“If a minor of 14 year and elderly persons of 87 years have been arrested, their cases should be reviewed,’’ Tarigami said, adding since the Government has been claiming normalcy in the Kashmir Valley, it should review cases of all those detained under PSA.
Later speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Engineer Rashid circulated the copies of Date of Birth Certificate issued by the Govt Middle School, Pamposh Colony, Palpora (Zone Iddgah), Srinagar, certifying that Sahil Ahmad Malik, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Malik was the student of the said school and his date of birth as per the school record vide admission no:381, was 10-03-2002.
‘’As per the Government reply, the detained boy is major, which is a total lie. I will expose the Government and the officials, who misled the House,’’ said the MLA adding that he will move privilege motion in the Assembly tomorrow.
