A step towards cashless economy

Manjeet Razdan
Shrill shreiks of impending economic disaster are dying down. Throats of alarmists have become hoarse. Doomsday sayers are now hiding. Long queues  in front of banks and ATM/s are not only shortening but in many places disappearing. Farmers have completed Rabi sowing. Dogged fight against and vehement opposition to demonetization by opposition and vested interests are being contemptuously ignored by the entire nation. Habitual Modi baitors are falling silent. It is not to say that situation has completely normalized. Cash crunch is still there, standing hours in front of banks is still visible in some places but for better tomorrow people of India are fully backing  the Government initiative.
Since independence, the pace of economic development had been pathetic, our G.D.P is about 20 percent that of China. In human development index we have been left behind even by small countries like Singapore, Srilanka, Thailand, Malaysia and Bangladesh. It is quite shameful  that corruption is not only wide spread but has attained respect ability and acceptability. Your file in offices will not move without greasing the palm. Teacher will not teach in school but  tuition centre, doctor doesn’t treat in hospital unless you visit his private clinic, shopkeeper will overprice and underweigh and so on. Unorganized labourer is not paid daily wages as fixed by law, factory worker does not get full salary and Govt. ration dealer sells flour and rice in black market. Rapes, murders, flesh trading human trafficking, black money, shadow economy, narcotic business are the normal norms in society. From joint family to nuclear family to live -in-relation and this basic social structure is almost funding complete ruination. Entire nation is overtaken by despondency, hopelessness and frustration.
Question arises as to what type of nation we had been building since 1947 and in which direction we are heading.
Modi’s arrival in this grim national scenario represented revolt by common man against this rotten system. Revolt by common people is not confined to India only but is evident in the victory of  Donald Trump in U.S.A and Brixit in great Britain which are most developed economies.
Democrats and Republicans joined hands and were supported by entire media, money bags military industrial complex by the leader world over and Trump was depicted as  an irresponsible ill-charactered and mentally unsound demon. Victory of Trump is extremely amazing and beyond comprehension of so called intellctuals and think tanks. Same is the story of  Brexit phenomenon.
Like in India these amazing phenomenon represent peoples revolt against the system and cannot be easily understood by classical economist like Keynes and his disciples like Ex-PM, Manmohan Singh nor they can offer any solution to the vexed problems of today. Revolts in developed economics are the result of application of science, technology and innovation as tools of production to have better, cheaper and quicker production but this application  of technology lays people unemployed so the revolt.
Narendra Modi is keen observer of happenings in India  and world over. He is innovative, out of  box thinker, bold decision maker, technology savvy, great doer and hard worker. His selflessness, honesty and  pragmatic  thinking are his greatest assets. Like a good doctor, he first diagnosed the diseases and is now working on medication.
He diagnosed that all the ills afflicting the nation are the result of impurities in man’s body, environment, thinking, his economic political, social and spiritual findings so he wanted first to get rid of these toxicities..
He embarked on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to cleanse the entire physical environment of the country, then Yoga Abhiyan to cleanse the body, mind and intellect of the people and by demonetization he has embarked on economic and behavioral Swachhta Abhiyan. This Abhiyan is sure to remove the toxicity of corruption black money, fake currency, terror funding, shadow economy and is sure to bring Swachhta in economic dealing and management. This is also a method to shore up resources for the fast development and also take the country towards cashless system. Cashless economy brings permanent solution for the eradication of corruption, black money and exploitation.  The Prime Minister  Narendra Modi knows inner secrets of as to why Doland Trump and Brixit happened. He wants this country to avoid those pitfalls and agony and frustration with  which developed economics are suffering from. He knows due to fast advancing technologies and innovation, stage is sure to come when the present capitalist economic system is sure to change fundamentally and usher in a new system.
Demonetization is a step towards cashless society free of corruption illegal and immoral trading practices which ultimately will make society harmonious and wellness of entire people will be achieved. No doubt this journey may bring initial pain, dislocation and discomfort but in the long run it will surely bring us gain. Let us walk with Modi.
