Govt taking tangible measures to upgrade basic amenities: Sham Choudhary

SHAM-27JAMMU, Dec 27:  Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today said the state government has taken various path-breaking initiatives to upgrade basic amenities including construction of lanes and drains, improving road connectivity and providing better sanitation facilities to the people.

The Minister said this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating lanes & drains at village Satriyan in Suchetgarh being constructed at a cost of Rs 12 lakh under Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).

Member Parliament, Shamsher Singh Manhas was also present on the occasion.

Sham Lal Choudhary informed the people about various steps being taken by the government for uplifting the poor, women, farmers, border people and downtrodden sections of the society. He called upon them to come forward and take maximum benefit of state and centrally sponsored schemes including Laadli Beti, AASRA, State Marriage Assistance Scheme and other welfare schemes.

He further said the Government has launched many welfare schemes for the benefit of common masses and stress is being laid on the development of border areas.

Addressing the gathering, MP Shamsher Singh Manhas said it is the duty and responsibility of the public representatives to serve the people of the state and every effort is being made to provide every facility at their doorsteps. The construction of lanes & drains will definitely help in improving the living conditions of the people, he added.

The people of the village demanded installation of new transformer in the area and upgradation of left over lanes and drains. After listening to their demands, the Minister assured them that all their genuine demands would be redressed in a phased manner.
