JAMMU, Dec 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Accounts employees today held strong protest at Civil Secretariat here and also at various Govt Treasury headquarters throughout the State.
In Civil Secretariat , Jammu, the Accounts employees observed pen down strike for about two hours and also held protest in the complex near the J&K Bank/ Treasury. They were protesting against the allegations leveled by the State Vigilance Commission as appeared in a section of press on December 21. Several Union leaders spoke on the occasion and condemned the statement of the Commission. They warned the concerned authorities and urged the State Government to hold inquiry into the matter.
The Accounts employees are of the view that they have nothing to do with the State Govt Policy regardjng financial reforms by way of implementation of pay and accounts system in lieu of existing Treasury system but are eager to know that their cadre interests are preserved while framing new policy.
Prominent among those who addressed gathering at Secretariat included- Niyaz Ahmed Qadri (president , JKEAA, Civil Sectt), Chand Ji Bhat, GN Tantray, Sardari Lal, Mohd Hussain Bhat and Vishnu Kant Sharma.
In Srinagar, the gathering was led by Shakir Hussain Bhat. In Jammu, Kulwant Singh, Gh Rasool and Mohd Maqbool addressed the gatherings. Similar protests were held at different Treasuries headquarters.
