JAMMU, Nov 25: The leaders of various organizations while sharply reacting to statement of former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah that former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharief had agreed solution on Kashmir termed it a bluff.
Commenting on the statement of Dr Abdullah, BJP State spokesperson, Prof Virender Gupta said “Farooq Abdullah’s statement that former Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee and his then counterpart Nawaz Sharief, who was also the Prime Minister of Pakistan, had agreed to convert the LoC into the International Border during Vajpayee’s visit to Lahore and Vajpayee took Farooq into confidence, shared with him the agreement reached” is simply a bluff.
He said that none of the press reporters, including Kuldip Nayyar had reported about the agreement that Farooq talks about and none of the NDA leaders, who were the members of Vajpayee’s Cabinet, had ever mentioned about the agreement. He said that it was Farooq’s view, which he expressed number of times in media in those days.
He told that had Pakistan agreed to this formula, there would have been no infiltrations from across the borders, no Pakistan sponsored terrorist activities and no ceasefire violations by Pakistan, particularly with Nawaz Sharief being again the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Prof. Virender Gupta ridiculed the repeated statements from Abdullahs that India should give internal autonomy to Kashmir by keeping only defence, communication and foreign affairs with the centre and giving rest all powers to the State. He said that Abdullah is living in fool’s paradise; the needles of the clock can never be reversed back; no change has so far brought in the Article 370, whatever the Centre laws have been applied to the State that was done with the consent of the State Government. He added that Sheikh Mohammed had reconciled with the situation and entered into an accord with Indira Gandhi, and more than 18 new Central laws were applied to the State with the approval of the State Government during the regimes of Sheikh, Farooq and Omar Abdullah.
The Spokesperson said that in the Common Agenda of Governance signed by PDP and BJP, it was agreed to have negotiations with the stakeholders and stakeholders are those who have faith in the Instrument of Accession and want a solution in the frame work of Indian Constitution.
In another statement VHP senior leader and patron, Dr Rama Kant Dubey said that Dr Abdullah is habitual of making such statements when he is out of power so it should not be taken seriously by any body.
He said that making a statement about Vajpayee who is not in a position to give his explanation is nothing except to bluff the people. Dr Dubey said that India has never given its claim on PoK as it is the integral part of Kashmir which belongs to India and is under the forcible occupation of Pakistan.
The VHP leaders said that whole country is with the Parliament resolution of 1994 which stands for taking back PoK from Pakistan and Vajpayee being a patriotic leader whose party fought for total integration of J&K with India would never have been agreed to such a bogus formula as stated by Dr Abdullah.
He said BJP which sacrificed its towering leader like Dr Shama Prasad Mookerjee for total integration of State with India could never take such a decision.
All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) has also expressed its surprise over the statement of Dr Abdullah and said that not only Kashmir but PoK is an integral part of India and the nation is committed by Parliament resolution of 1994 in this regard. The AMCCC president Desh Rattan while commenting on the statement of Dr Abdullah said he was misleading the nation by making an irrelevant statement and suggesting restoration of 1953 position as the only solution to the Kashmir issue. Rattan said Dr Abdullah should keep this in mind that the needles of clock can’t be reversed.
