A heartening event that has taken place in Meghalaya (Khasi Hills) recently about the celebrations of Wild Cherry blossom festival ending November,17th 2016,to show case the natural bloom coupled with lot of cultural activities, a way to promote tourism in the region. Cherry blossom activity has been successful in Japan and USA since long to draw millions of bloom loving visitor. State of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Kashmir valley and its uplands in particular have near monopoly in producing quality Cherry for commerce. We have many cherry growing belts in valley located around Tungmargh, Harwan, Ganderbal etc. having lot of potential to follow and explore the way shown by a sister NE state where cherry blooms in autumn season .The natural spring bloom beauty bestowed by Nature to our state needs attention by J&K Tourism Department as an additional tourist attraction similar to Meghalaya.
