BSF jawan among two killed in road accidents

JAMMU, Nov 21: Two persons including a BSF Constable were killed today in two separate road mishaps that occurred in the jurisdiction of police station Gangyal.
According to a police spokesman, a pedestrian identified as Teja Singh (70), a resident of Preet Nagar (Digiana) received serious injuries this morning when he was hit by a Swift Car bearing registration number JK02BB-3150 at Kunjwani near Army gate. He was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries after few hours.
Meanwhile, a BSF Jawan (35) identified as Constable Sachin Verma (35) son of Ajeet Ram, a resident of Khadergal, tehsil Bari-Brahmana, district Samba, who was posted at HQ 84 Battalion BSF Reserve Police Line, Jankinagar, district Nabarangpur in Odisha, was hit this afternoon by an Army vehicle at Ratnuchak when he was travelling on his bike registration number JK02AB-2505.
The grievously injured BSF Jawan was shifted to GMCH Jammu by the Army personnel but he expired there after some time.
The bodies of both the deceased were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites after completing all medico-legal formalities. The Gangyal police had also registered separate cases in both the cases and started investigations.
