Flower growers’ plea to CM, others

JAMMU, Nov 20: The JK Flower Growers Association in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of Tajinder Singh its president expressed concern over pathetic scenario of commercial floriculture in Jammu province.
Tajinder Singh alleged that due to the callousness of the State Government, the production of flowers has dipped many fold. The meeting recalled the golden years of 2009 to 2014 which saw surge in flower growing activities from Jammu exported to other states of country. However from last two years flower growing particularly in Jammu region has been badly hit due to wrong policies.
Flower Growers expressed astonishment over the fact that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti despite taking keen interest for the growth and development of commercial floriculture to spur income and employment generation time and again whereas ground level depicts a grim prospects totally disenchantment, the assets created like cold room, refer vans, green houses and nurseries under plan budget remain useless and unproductive. The disarray and unaccountability among the dispensation ruined the growing spirit of flower growers, the meting said.
The growers in an appeal to CM urged her to monitor personally the implementation of commercial floriculture schemes by periodically monitoring the schemes at district level and appointing full time Director who have commitment to development of commercial floriculture sector.
The flower growers also made and appeal to Priya Sethi Minister of State and Daljeet Singh Chib vice chairman Kissan Advisory Board in this regard.
