JAMMU, Oct 5: In connection with ongoing Wildlife week, Wildlife Protection Department organised Symposium and Painting competitions at Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary, in which students from various schools participated actively.
On the occasion, Asif M Sagar, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Jammu was the chief guest, who while speaking laid stress upon involvement of local communities, students and young generation for maintaining ecological balance and sustainable use of natural resources.
Wildlife Warden, Jammu, Tahir Shawl, emphasized the urgency of making judicious use of natural bounty and realize the importance of safeguarding our natural heritage for posterity.
In symposium competition, Mankaran Singh of class 9th of Shinning Star High School, Jhajjar Kotli, Shilpa of class 8th of Government Middle School (GMS), Jhajjar Kotli and Umesh Sharma of class 9th of Shinning Star High School, Jhajjar Kotli, secured first, second and third positions respectively. Rekha of class 10th, Shamshad Bibi of class 10th of Government High School, Tarha and Rubina of class 6th of GMS, Domail, secured consolation prizes.
In Painting competition, Darshan Kumar of class 8th of GMS, Jhajjar Kotli, Ravi of class 6th of GMS, Domail and Mankaran Singh of class 9th of Shinning Star High School, Jhajjar Kotli, bagged first, second and third positions respectively. Rahul Singh of class 8th of GMS, Jhajjar Kotli, Sapna Devi of class 8th of GMS, Domail and Umesh Sharma of class 9th of Shinning Star High School, Jhajjar Kotli, bagged consolation prizes.
The jury members for the competitions were Sayed Ahmed, Range Officer, Wildlife Range, Jammu, Majid Bashir, Range Officer Zoo, Jammu and Abdul Latif, Divisional Head Clerk, Jammu.
At the end, Balwant Singh, Range Officer, Wildlife Range, Nandini, presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were Kulbushan Singh, Sarpanch, Katal Battal, Basharat Singh, Sarpanch, Jagti, Noor Jahan of Nandini, Vijay Singh, Range Officer Wetlands Jammu and staff of Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary.
