JAMMU, Oct 5: All J&K Estates Employees Coordination Committee (EECC), an amalgam of both the main unions of the Estates employees have demanded reorganization of the department, regularization of daily wagers and early conduct of DPC of all cadre.
Addressing a joint press conference here today senior leaders of Coordination Committee Yash Pal Sharma and Prem Singh Bawa pointed out that since 1973 when the Estates Department was created, there were nearly 250 Government quarters and now since quarters and bungalows have increased to nearly 3550, the staff is not in position to look after properly and discharge duties. Since then there was no re-organization. Funds worth crores are spent every year and there was urgent need to create some new units and posts for proper functioning.
They also demanded regularization of daily rated, casual, adhoc, contractual and consolidated workers besides ‘Safai Karamcharis’. They alleged that DPC of the Srinagar staff has been conducted but for Jammu staff no DPC has been conducted since long. The seniority list of Jammu employees should be prepared and DPC conducted at the earliest, they demanded.
These leaders further demanded two and half days pay for the field staff as they are governed by Essential Services and Maintenance Act. They stressed for time bound promotion of the employees as many of them are facing stagnations for the decades, shifting of office of Dy Director from Manda Hills, Jammu as no facility is available there to the employees, and clearance of pending SRO-43 cases.
They gave seven-day ultimatum to the higher authorities, failing which employees will adopt the agitational path.
